The Family Electrician is a sub division of the Furnace Family. We brought in a electrical division to help our residential customers with all their electrical needs. Who is The Furnace Family? Meet Our Family
Dareck Makowski
Head of Family
Dareck, Head of the Family at Furnace Family, has 25 years of experience in the heating and cooling industry. Starting in the industry at age 17, Dareck received his Journeyman first class gasfitter ticket by the age of 23.
Opening his first business, The Furnace Company, from a garage in Forest Heights in 2001, he grew his staff to 45 people and a state of the art building by 2011. Under his leadership, The Furnace Company was Edmonton’s most award winning Lennox dealer, winning the Dave Lennox award four years in a row.
Mark Kabyn
Operations Manager
Mark stared his career in the furnace cleaning industry at a young age, quickly progressing to become a class one gas fitter. Mark came to work for Dareck at The Furnace Company in 2006 leaving a family run operation.
Mark progressed through the ranks making it all the way to operations manager. In August of 2018 Mark came back to work for his long time friend Dareck as operations manager at Furnace Family leaving the corporate furnace company world behind. Mark enjoys spending time with his family outside of work.
David G.
Journeyman Electrician
Dave is our journeyman electrician who also comes back to the family from The Furnace Company. He began his apprenticeship in 2008, under a master electrician. He quickly rose up the ranks by running his own crew. Dave joined The Furnace Company and worked under another Master Electrician for over 8 years. He also spent some time in the oil patch doing quality control inspections for Suncor. When his old family came calling, he jumped on the chance to again work for the Furnace Family. Dave takes pride in his work and is all about the Furnace Family’s recipe of doing the job right the first time. Outside of work, his 7 year old daughter keeps him busy, but he also enjoys fixing cell phones, and computers.
Jeff R.
Sr. Service Technician
Jeff is our senior technician. He’s originally from 100 Mile House in BC, and he’s 56 years old. He’s worked in many industries over his career, but being an HVAC expert is what called to him. Like many of our other staff, he started with The Furnace Company in 2006, and has developed amazing diagnostic skills and the ability to really think beyond the problem at hand. Jeff loves a challenge! In his leisure time, he loves to sit down with items he’s never worked on before and learn how to take them apart and put them back together so they’re working better than ever

CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER
Taryn is our Office Manager. She is 32 years young and has spent quite a few of those years learning the ins and outs of the HVAC world. She joined Dareck Makowski at the Furnace Company back in 2006 (Costco & Install Coordinator) but took a break in 2012 to spend time with her little ones. She could not resist the offer to come back to work alongside a bunch of her “Family Members” again in late 2016. After work hours Taryn goes home to her second job of being a Mom. These two munchkins take up most of if not all of her free time, but she wouldn’t change it for the world.

CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER
Christine is our wonderful office administrator. She’s been working in the HVAC industry since 1994 in various positions (office manager, operations manager). Christine is another one of our original Staff Members to work along side our team at the Furnace Company – and joined the company in 2009. Outside of work she loves to travelling, camping and spending time with family and friends. She’s excited to be part of the family as it feels like home.
